Dave Jones

Dave Jones is the CTO and owner of V/Soft Software, a Houston, Texas based z/VM and zLinux consulting and system development company. He has over 20 years experience in both VM system and application programming on VM/SP, VM/ESA and z/VM systems. He is now focusing on exploiting the features of z/Linux in z/VM environment. He has helped bring several VM-based commercial products to market as well as being the author of the VM SNTP Version 4 network timeserver, VM/TimeServ, available from the IBM VM web site. He has extensive experience with Rexx, CMS Pipelines, HLASM, PL/I and PL/X. He was also part of the team that wrote the "VM/ESA Network Computing with Java and NetRexx" (SG24-5148-00) Redbook, published in November 1998.

Dave holds both B.S (1973) and M.S. (1975) degrees in Geophysics from Texas A&M University. After a 20-year career in the Houston oil and gas business developing geophysical signal processing applications, Dave left the oil and gas "bidness" to devote full time to VM and now Linux on VM. He, his wife Karen, and 15-year-old son Will, make their home in Houston, along with one main dog and a smaller emergency back-up dog.
